States Industries has been finishing natural wood
panels since 1966. We led the industry to the use of ultraviolet
cured coatings, and continue to lead in providing high quality mill
finished panels. No other panel manufacturer comes close to the
quality and variety available under our NOVA line of finished panel
products.
Using NOVA panels lowers costs, speeds processing
and eliminates harmful emissions associated with traditional finishing
methods. While we offer a variety of topcoat options and gloss levels,
NOVA finishes fall into four general categories.
Clear
A combination of sealers and topcoats applied directly to a panels
surface to provide protection without obscuring the natural beauty
of the wood.
Translucent
Pigmented stains or dyes are applied to the panel surface to enhance
the woods natural color. Darker stains may be used to minimize
color variation in certain decorative veneers. A clear protective
sealer and topcoat are also applied.
Opaque
Solid color covers the woods natural grain pattern and color,
while the grains texture may or may not remain visible depending
on the specie selected. Black and white, as well as tan, gray and
red opaques are common. Clear protective topcoat and sealer is also
applied.
Printed
Panels may be covered with an opaque basecoat and then imprinted
with a pattern of a natural wood grain. Background and imprint colors,
as well as the grain pattern can be altered to achieve a variety
of appearances. Protective sealers and topcoats are then applied.
