States Industries Recognized as First in Industry to Receive HPVA’s Newest Hardwood Plywood Certification

June 7, 2017

Eugene, OR—Today, States Industries announced that it is the first North American hardwood plywood manufacturer to be awarded the ANSI/HPVA HP-1-2016 Hardwood Plywood certification. This ISO/IEC 17065 accredited certification program serves as third-party attestation that the quality management systems and production of certified manufacturers comply with all the rigorous requirements of the American National Standard for Hardwood Plywood. To date, States is the only manufacturer certified to the standard in its entirety.

“Our company prides itself on providing the highest quality panel products in the industry,” said Mike Taylor, president of States Industries. “This certification recognizes the rigid production and quality control processes we employ to ensure our customers receive beautiful, reliable, environmentally responsible hardwood plywood products. We are proud to be the first hardwood plywood manufacturer to receive this designation.”

States products receiving the ANSI/HPVA HP-1-2016 Hardwood Plywood certification include pre-finished and unfinished veneer-core and composite-core hardwood panels.

States has consistently led the industry in innovation, with a strong commitment to green principles and the environment. In 2008, States introduced the industry’s first soy-bonded, no-added-formaldehyde hardwood panels. Today, the company uses SoyStrong soy-based adhesive in all of its panel products. Veneer-core panels from States are free from formaldehyde resins; non-veneer substrates, such as particleboard and medium density fiberboard (MDF), with the SoyStrong label have no added urea-formaldehyde. All SoyStrong products exceed California Air Resource Board (CARB) Phase II standards and contribute to the US Green Building Council’s LEED IEQ Credit 4.4: Low Emitting Materials.
